The last couple pages are a tad cute; it’s an awesome issue. Still confusing, but who cares? Messner-Loebs does a great job.

It’s hard to follow–just way too many characters. Messner-Loebs has great details, fine tone–he’s wasted on this material.

The second issue is a bit of a mess–nice hallucinatory sequences–too many characters look alike. Anachronisms hurt it too.

A moderate success, mostly due to the incredibly competent scripting and pacing. The art’s iffy, but has a distinctive tone.
