True Believers 5

I really hope they get a follow-up. Nice close, well-paced for content but fast-moving. Bates writes some nice one liners.

Here we get the rest of the team’s origin stories, which are good (mostly hip and funny). The team dynamics are excellent.

True Believers 3

With the electric blue lead, it’s as close to old school Gulacy as we’re going to get. Really good issue, the best so far.

I wish the series was ongoing, but Bates probably couldn’t sustain it. It is like a PG-13 Alias. More great Gulacy panels.

An odd book. It’s a nice combination of serious and fun–an almost homage to the nineties. Gulacy’s got some great panels.

Not as good as the first two issues, but who cares? Some amazing panels. Moench seems like he converted a Batmovie pitch.

Strangely topical conspiracy bits from Moench. The art’s still crazy–Gulacy composes some wild pages here–a fine ride.

Batman: Outlaws 1

It’s crazy–the inks and colors, especially inks–make Gulacy Eisneresque. Moench’s script’s fine but the art’s the draw.
